Throughout history, the Lord has commanded His people to build temples. Temples are literally houses of the Lord.

In this video, scholars and leaders of many faiths discuss why Mormons build temples and the blessings that LDS temples offer us.

I recently came across a blog written by a lovely lady who happens to be LDS.  Her blog reviews books written by and for Christians.  Her site is beautiful to look at and her content is terrific.

If you have a chance, VISIT HER BLOG.  Especially if you are an avid reader like me!

LEAVE MORE THAN AN INHERITANCE

“For when he dies he shall carry nothing away; His glory shall not descend after him.”  Psalm 49:17

God encourages us to fix our eyes on the things that endure. In light of eternity, leaders cannot become consumed with the temporary. Only a vision that outlives them, a vision connected to eternity, will fulfill a godly leader. In other words, we must build a legacy.

A huge difference exists between a legacy and an inheritance. Anyone can leave an inheritance. An inheritance is something you leave to your family or loved ones. (It also fades.) A legacy is something you leave in your family and loved ones. Consider these differences:

            Inheritance                                                           Legacy
1. Something you give to others                        1. Something you place in others
2. Temporarily brings them happiness          2. Permanently transforms them
3. Eventually fades as it is spent                       3. Lives on long after you die
4. Your activity may or may not pay off        4. Your activity becomes achievement

I’d like to post a request to my readers, and all those you can forward this important  information to.

On August 25th (Saturday) Arlington, TX will host an AMAZING youth summit.

Click Here for info – youth ages 10-18 can still sign up – it’s FREE!

One of many terrific benefits of attending is that all youth who REGISTER  will receive a FREE backpack FULL of school supplies.

Here’s the deal.  We have an amazing turnout this year and have no intention of turning anyone away.  That said, we have been scrambling to acquire extra supplies to stuff extra backpacks to give to all the extra kids who will be attending.

We still need:

  • 1000 packs (150-count) of ruled writing paper
  • 4000 spiral notebooks (each child needs 5 for school, we have 1000)
  • 1000 composition books

This sounds like a lot, but it really isn’t.  The total comes to about $700 for everything.

If you, or if you know anyone or any business, that can help us reach our quota, we would greatly appreciate the support.  The summit is focused on providing support for at-risk and impoverished youth in Dallas and Tarrant Counties.  Most of these kids, and their families, are counting on these backpacks and we would like to fill them all.

If you can donate toward the purchase of these items, please send a check or money order to Seasons of Change, Inc. at 805 Secretary, Suite B  Arlington, TX  76015.  On the memo line, please write “Youth Summit School Supplies via BB.”  If you can leave a comment here, so we know the donation is coming, that would be terrific!  I will respond to each donor personally and include a receipt for charitable donation.

If you can donate supplies and are in the Arlington area, you can drop them at the address above (it would help to let them know you saw this blog).  If you are in the Dallas area, I can pick them up.  Drop me a comment here or send an email to bonnieandtilly@gmail.com and I will contact you.

I, Seasons of Change, and the hundreds of youth that will benefit from your generosity, thank you in advance for your support.  Please spread the word.  God Bless.

Welcome to our Blog… Bonnie’s and Tilly’s Blog that is…  Typed by Bonnie because Tilly can’t type very well (no thumbs)… but inspired by her much of the time.

I’ve been reborn — in a sense –and am beginning a new life, with many new beliefs and a few old ones recommitted to, in a new town, with a new focus and a new set of priorities.  It’s a little stressful, a little scary… but also exciting and exhilarating.

I could gripe about my lack of gainful employment, having to leave a great job and friends in my old home town, or the difficulties that arise when starting over so completely.  I could feel sorry for myself because I lost my home and business in a flood, my husband to a mental breakdown, and my children to growing up and away.  It could be easy to slip into that frame of mind if I let myself.

But I’m going to take a cue from my inspiration, Tilly, who adapts to any new situation with ease, so long as she has the one person she knows she can always count on by her side… me.  I’ve learned an important lesson from Tilly over the past year.  I learned that so long as someone loves me unconditionally and can be trusted to never leave me no matter how rough the road I travel may become, that I can survive anything.  It took me half a lifetime to realize that I’ve been looking for that someone in all the wrong places.  He was right by my side all along – I just failed to see him for what he was.  But he is with me now, 24/7, and he will never leave me.  I understand now how Tilly can be so content wrapped in my arms, no matter where my arms may be taking her…  I feel that contentment now.  I feel the Lord’s arms holding me tight, keeping me safe and secure through good times and bad… I feel the peace and serenity he passes on to me when I need it, and the joy we share when I follow his plan for me.

I am investigating the Church that I intend to spend the rest of my life a member of.  I know it is the true Church and the teachings are those the Lord wants me to follow.  It’s not an easy Church — not an easy lifestyle.  But I’m not into this for the ease of it.  Great rewards require great accomplishments, sacrifices, and actions.  To live my life as the Lord wants me to — as the Lord himself lived His life… will take a lot of discipline.  But it will be well worth the effort.  The Lord loves me — unconditionally.  I’ve been searching for that kind of love my entire life.  I’d just been looking in all the wrong places.  But He is with me now and I know he’ll never leave me.  He and I — and Tilly of course — are embarking on a great new adventure.  It’s exciting and motivating.  It’s fresh and pure.  It’s a continuous learning experience and will never feel stale or boring because it will never stop evolving – growing in strength and committment – every day.

So this will be my journal – my sounding board – my way of expressing the emotional, intellectual, and spiritual journey I am embarking on.  I hope you stop by now and again to see where our journey is taking us.  I don’t know where we will end up or what paths we’ll take to get there.  I do know, though, that so long as we let the Lord lead us, we’ll experience wonderful adventures along the way and when this stage of our journey ends it will launch us on an even more amazing adventure through eternity.

Come join us on our adventure – we’d love to share it with you.  God Bless —
